You just found out your pregnant.

Here are a few do’s & don’ts to insure that you have a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby.

DO

  • Get plenty of rest
  • Eat well balanced meals.  Aim for five or six meals a day to include, fruits, vegetables. whole grain and lean proteins
  • Make water your beverage of choice to stay hydrated
  • Take a prenatal vitamin
  • Make sure you find an OBGYN and go to every scheduled appointment
  • Get moderate exercise
  • Maintain good hygiene

DON’T

  • Smoke or vape
  • Don’t drink any alcoholic beverages or use any drugs
  • Drink excessive amounts of caffeine
  • Eat raw or undercooked meat and fish
  • Drink unpasteurized milk, cheese and other dairy products
  • Eat foods high in mercury like fish, shark, swordfish or tuna
  • Stress…I know that one is hard

Taking care of yourself during pregnancy can make a huge difference in your baby’s life.  If you’re planning to have a baby now or in the future, it’s never too early to start thinking about your prenatal health. Practicing healthy habits during pregnancy can ensure proper brain development, a healthy birth weight and better overall health for your newborn.
