We recently had a young woman come into our center and she was thinking about abortion. One of the questions she asked was, “Do you know women that have gone through with an abortion and didn’t regret it?”
She was thinking about how an abortion decision was going to affect her later, which was good. It’s always a good decision to slow down, talk to people you trust and ask questions before making decisions.
Are you wondering the same thing… if I get an abortion will I regret it?
Here are some things to think about:
*Are you feeling very uncertain about making this decision?
* Are you being pressured to abort?
* Do you have lack of emotional support?
* Is the baby’s father leaving this decision totally up to you?
* Is abortion against your values?
* Do you want the pregnancy?
If you said “yes” to any of these then you could be putting yourself at risk of having feelings of regret or other negative emotions, which can surface days, months or even years later after your abortion.
An abortion can affect you later and there are possible emotional risks involved that is why it’s important to explore all your options.
