WHAT TO EXPECT IN YOUR FIRST TRIMESTER

by Care Net PRC of Neosho | Aug 20, 2026 | Uncategorized | 0 comments

Have you just found out that your pregnant? Even though you may not have noticed, the moment you became pregnant your body started changing in miraculous ways. The changes are preparing your body to be the perfect place for your baby to develop and grow until that beautiful day when you finally meet face-to-face. There are three trimesters during your pregnancy…first trimester, second trimester and third trimester. We’re going to talk about what to expect in your first trimester in this blog. Some of changes in your body that you will notice are: • Breasts – They may appear bigger and more tender. These changes are obvious as your breast are preparing for breastfeeding. • Nausea and Vomiting – One of the most common complaints from pregnant women is “morning sickness”. Morning sickness is caused by changes in hormones. Nausea and vomiting are most common in the morning when you have an empty stomach, but it’s not isolated to just mornings, it can be in the evenings and in some extreme cases, it can last all day. If you do have nausea some things you can do to help is eat saltine crackers, pretzels or dry toast before getting out of bed. Eat smaller, but more frequent meals and avoid spicy, greasy, and acidic foods. If nausea and vomiting become severe, notify your doctor. • Feeling tired – During the first three months, you may feel exhausted all of the time, no matter how much you sleep. Take naps, if possible, eat well and exercising can help you get through this time in your pregnancy. • Constipation and Hemorrhoids – At least half of all pregnant women have problems with constipation. Women that experience constipation may get hemorrhoids. Some suggestions that may help is to drink plenty of fluids, eight glasses a day, and that can include water, fruit juices, such as prune juice. • Heartburn – this is a sharp burning pain that starts in the stomach and then rises to the throat. To help relieve heartburn, try the following: Eat five to six meals a day instead of two to three large ones. Don’t eat foods that cause gas like beans, cabbage, raw broccoli and stay away from greasy and spicy foods. This information was taken from one of our classes offered here at Care Net PRC of Neosho.
